How to Change the Microsoft 365 Company Branding in the Login Page

Last Updated on March 19, 2024

Want to spice things up on the Microsoft 365 login page?

In this guide, you will learn how to change the company branding on the login page easily and if there are any benefits to it.

Let’s get started!

Why apply branding to the login page?

Well, if your reason is to “make it cooler”, you’re not wrong. 🙂

But besides that, there are some benefits to making a customized sign-in page:

  1. Make the space more welcoming
  2. Reinforce your brand’s presence
  3. Foster a sense of identity and belonging

Personally, the best thing I like about custom branding is that it makes the users feel like they’re part of the organization.

As the owner/admin/executive, it also brings out a sense of pride whenever you see the login page with your company branding.

How to Change the Company Branding on the Login Page

What’s great if you want to change it is that the process is basically simple and straightforward.

First off, let’s get you the vanilla sign in page without any modifications:

With that, here are the steps you can follow:

Step 1: Get to Azure AD (Identity)

If you know how to get there immediately, then kindly proceed.

    For those who don’t know:

    • Login to your Microsoft 365
    • Click the app launcher > admin option
Admin button from the app launcher

This will bring you to the Microsoft 365 admin center.

    From there:

    • Expand the admin center options (left panel)
    • Select the Identity option
click the aad admin center option

You’re now in the Azure Active Directory.

    Step 2: Configure/Edit Company Branding

    From the home page:

    • Expand the Identity menu in the left panel
    • Go to user experiences > company branding
go to user experiences then company branding in identity

All you have to do is click either the edit button or configure button under the default sign-in tab.

Well, you can also click the add browser language button and it will allow you to design a language-specific login page.

edit the default sign-in login page

Note: The button here usually depends if you or someone has already set up the company branding before.

Step 3: Finish the login page branding

You will see a step-by-step process of changing the sign-in experience.

    These are all the tabs:

    • Basics
    • Layout
    • Header
    • Footer
    • Sign-in form
    • Review

The basics tab refers to the background settings like favicon, background image, and page background color.

All you have to do here is to upload the images that will be used here using the browse button.

The next part is the layout of the login screen as well as that of the header and footer.

There are templates available here, and you can choose to hide the header and footer.

visual templates are available for the sign-in experience

Now, I chose to hide the header and footer.

But if you want to know what’s inside:

    • Header logo
    • Privacy & cookies and terms of use links to their pages

The last step is about the sign-in form where you can configure the banner logo, square logo, and the sign-in page text.

    Here’s an example:

banner logo and square logo of the sign-in form

This is where you can upload your own company logo and it will replace the Microsoft logo on the sign-in page.

There are also other options here like username hit text and self-service password reset.

But I won’t be including them here since we’re talking about the branding part. 😎

Anyway, simply review the changes you made and publish the changes.

    Use CSS Stylesheet

For the layout, you can actually upload a custom CSS file for that.

But you need to consult the CSS template reference guide for Entra and download the template from here.
